Holistic systems approach to energy management and planning
PCG teams up with our LEED-AP and environmental engineering experts to help you design a comprehensive energy management program for your properties. In recent years, PCG Energy and Princeton Energy Systems have helped dozens of client sites to manage energy consumption.
All projects utilize a holistic approach to energy management and planning and many projects have combined energy efficiency retrofits with on-site generation. A brief review of the renewable capabilities is included here:
Solar Photovoltaic Generation
- Feasibility assessments and conceptual design of solar arrays
- Site surveys, detailed design and solar shading studies
- Ability to source photovoltaic solar panels directly from the manufacturer and provide to the installation contractor
- Coordination with local utility and electrical designer to integrate the solar array into the overall site electrical plan and the external power grid
- Negotiations of interconnection agreements, power purchase agreements, power sales agreements, site leases, utility coordination agreements
On-Site Combined Heat and
Power (Co-Generation) Plants
Combined heat and power (CHP) or co-generation is an economically viable solution to provide a facility with more reliable power at a less expensive rate. CHP is the production of two kinds of energy - usually electric and thermal - from a single source. Locating a plant on-site allows the client to lower the unit cost of energy while improving reliability.
- Assess, design, and implement on-site energy generation using conventional fuels or alternative fuels (biodiesel, biogas) and heat recovery systems (process heat, biomass, industrial waste)
- Provide design and equipment specification for onsite generation
- Design/deliver system integration and coordination with existing assets to provide flexible system with no loss of service during construction and transition to new systems.
- Interconnection design, planning and coordination with the local utility and grid service providers
- Negotiation of power agreements and rates with utility and third party suppliers
- Operational support and development of training and operational procedures to support the startup and efficient operation of the facility
- Development and use of economic dispatch models for generation plants
Biogas Fueled Cogeneration from Industrial and Municipal Wastewater, PCG teams up with companies that have deployed or are deploying anaerobic digester systems for the treatment of municipal and industrial (particularly food and beverage) wastewater streams. When anaerobic digesters process wastewater, biogas can be a significant byproduct. Purification to pipeline quality.
Geothermal Energy that includes heating and cooling systems take advantage of the temperature of the earth to cool or heat liquid, that in turn heats and cools buildings more efficiently.
Other Renewable Applications
- Steam system operations
- Water and sewage systems
- Building envelope systems
- Waste conservation
- Greenhouse gas inventories
